Salt carries a long way inland from Corio Bay, and a standard exterior system chalks out in a few summers here. We spec coatings rated for coastal exposure and we do not paint over problems, we fix them first.

How we approach it
Wash and assess
Pressure wash to strip grime, mould and chalking, then check every elevation for movement, rot and failed previous coatings.
Scrape, treat and prime
Flaking areas scraped back to sound material. Bare timber treated and spot primed. Rusted fixings dealt with before they bleed.
Coastal-rated system
Primer, undercoat and topcoats matched to the substrate and to the exposure that elevation actually gets. North and west walls take the worst of it.
Weather-aware scheduling
We do not paint into dew or ahead of rain. Geelong humidity extends dry times and we plan the work around it rather than rushing coats.
Common questions
What time of year is best for exterior painting?
Spring through autumn. We avoid painting when overnight temperatures drop low enough for dew to settle on fresh coats. Exteriors book out ahead of summer, so quote early.
Does salt air really change what you use?
Yes. Properties closer to the bay and the Surf Coast need coatings rated for coastal exposure, and more attention to fixings and bare timber. It costs a little more and lasts considerably longer.
Do you do the roof at the same time?
We can, and it usually saves on access costs since the scaffold or ladders are already up. We will quote it separately so you can decide.
